Obituary for Norman Gary Holloway (Holloway) Sr.

Norman G. Holloway, Sr., 91, died Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Velma M. (Boyce) Holloway to whom he was married 64 years as of October 24, 2017.

Viewing will be held from 10 am to 12 noon on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown. The funeral service will begin at Noon with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Cademartori officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Rinely, with full military rites by York County Veterans Honor Guard.

Born June 27, 1926 in Maryland Line, MD, he was the son of the late Hillen L. and Margie V. (McCleary) Holloway.

Norman was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Stewartstown, Stewart American Legion Post #455, Red Lion V.F.W. Post #1446 and a former member of UAW #786. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War and was recipient of a Purple Heart and 3 Bronze Camp Stars. In 2017 Norman’s name was added to the Court of Valor Wall at Prospect Hill Cemetery. He had been employed with the former Caterpillar Co. from 1978 until his retirement in 1990. Previously he was employed with American Chain of York from 1961-1972.

In addition to his wife Velma, Norman is survived by seven children, Lloyd D. Holloway of Stewartstown, Floyd G. Holloway and his wife, Marie of Felton, Norman G. Holloway, Jr. and his wife, Beverly of Red Lion, Emma Lee Knisely and her late husband, Jeffrey of Red Lion, Judy Ann Seaks of Red Lion, Wayne L. Holloway and his wife, Ann of Sheffield, PA, Gail E. Meyers and her husband, Wade of Cross Roads; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Harold L. Holloway of York; and two sisters, Delores Kilbourne of Stewartstown and Linda Yeager of Winterstown. He was predeceased by five brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter, Heather Seaks.
