Peggy Lynn Hess, nee Spicer, 60, passed away on April 11, 2018 after two courageous battles with cancer.
Born on November 13, 1957, she was the youngest daughter of the late Kenneth M. Spicer and Geraldine M. (Reidt) Spicer of Parkton, MD.

A 1975 graduate of Hereford High School, she also attended Hagerstown Business College.
The majority of her working career was spent at Noxell and Proctor and Gamble Corporations in Hunt Valley, Maryland where she retired as head of the shipping department in 2015.

Peggy was a member of Wiseburg United Methodist Church, the Hereford Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary where she was a faithful volunteer for numerous fundraisers, and a member of the Power of the Past at Genesee Valley where she dedicated her time for its annual tractor show.
A talented and creative seamstress and crocheter, she enjoyed making all sorts of crafts, especially for Christmas bazaars. Her other interests included traveling in her camper and four-wheeling in the mountains of West Virginia.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Laura Benesch, her son, Steven Benesch and his wife, Kathryn (McElwain) Benesch, her sister, Rosa (Spicer) Baer and her husband, Glen, her two nephews, Aaron and Ryan Baer, her husband, Thomas Hess, and his two children, Tina and Kris Hess.
Peggy will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A viewing will be held at Hartenstein Funeral and Cremation Care, Inc. at 24 North Second Street, New Freedom, PA from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 16, 2018 and from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Wiseburg UM Church, 810 Wiseburg Road, White Hall, MD.
