Gordon R. Glatfelter, 90, died June 7, 2018 at Senior Commons at Powder Mill. He was the husband of Jean H. Glatfelter for 65 years.
Gordon was born July 25, 1927 in Shrewsbury, to Ralph R. Glatfelter, Sr. and Jessie (Wakeland) Glatfelter. A 1945 graduate of New Freedom High School, Gordon was an avid baseball player in the southern York County Baseball League for many seasons as a pitcher. Gordon also worked for the former Amp company and TYCO for many years, retiring in 1989. Gordon attended Trinity United Methodist Church with his loving wife, Jean. Gordon’s other true passion was hunting. Growing up on the family farm, he learned to hunt pheasants, and soon after leaving home, Gordon joined the Cornhill Hunting and Fishing Club in Lycoming County, in 1945. He was a member his entire life, even going up for hunting seasons in his later years to be with friends.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Jean H. Glatfelter; a daughter, Laurie Rizzardo and husband, Dave; two grandchildren, Jared Rizzardo, and Caitlin Riddle and husband, Chad; and one brother, Ralph R. Glatfelter, Jr.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
