Anita Louise Mitchell

Anita Louise Mitchell, 86, passed from this life on Friday, August 12, 2022. She was the loving wife of Frank J. Mitchell and they celebrated 63 years of marriage together. Born in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Hettie (Hatfield) Scott. Anita went to John Harris H.S. and went on to be a hairdresser at Schleishner’s in Harrisburg. She then opened her own beauty salon, Anita’s Beauty Shop. Later in her life, she worked with her husband managing their business, Mitchell’s Eastern States out of Red Lion.

She and Frank lived in Stewartstown for over 50 years. She loved traveling the world, enjoyed animals, was a fantastic homemaker, and was often referred to by many as the most beautiful girl in Harrisburg.

Surviving in addition to her beloved husband are two sons, Scott Zeiders and his spouse, Susan of York  and Frank Mitchell Jr. of Loganville; a stepdaughter, Kim Mitchell of Twinsburg, OH; and nieces and nephews. Anita was the last of 10 children.

There will be a Life Celebration gathering, honoring Anita’s life at her late residence;  209 High Street, Stewartstown, PA 17363 on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at 2:00 pm, all are welcome to attend. For further details, please call 717-870-8900.
