Anne Marie Bortner

Anne Marie (Furmanchin) Bortner, 89, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024.

Born in Weatherly, PA., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Kathryn (Katona) Furmanchin. She was the wife of the late Donald L. Bortner with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage.

She graduated from Weatherly High School, class of 1953 and from the former Women’s Hospital of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1956.

She was employed with her husband as a registered nurse, where she retired after 38 years in 1998. She was a member of the Hanover Wesleyan Church, Hanover. Anne is survived by her two sons Donald L. Bortner, Jr. and Carl D. Bortner and wife Donna; four grandchildren Chad Lippiatt, Ashley Pantano, Benjamin, and Adam Bortner; four great- grandchildren Paige, Nicholas, Emma Kate, and Theodore; brother Joseph Furmanchin (Elaine); sister-in-law Rita Furmanchin. She was preceded in death by her brother George Furmanchin and daughter in law Bev Bortner.

There will be a viewing from 10:30 - 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be a Jefferson Cemetery in Codorus, PA.
