Anthony James "Tony" Bonitz

Anthony James Bonitz, Sr., 78, died Friday, April 1, 2016, at his residence. Born June 30, 1937, in Windber, he was the son of the late Dominic Nicholas and Sundi "Sue" Scaglione Bonitz. There will be a Funeral Service at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. There will be a viewing following the conclusion of the funeral service until 7 p.m. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Anthony had been employed as an independent sales representative in the home improvement industry for fifteen years, later working in sales for Western Pest Control for ten years. Anthony retired as the general manager of Martin's Catering, Baltimore, after twenty years of service. He attended Mt. Zion U.M. Church, Freeland, Md., and he loved the Lord. Surviving are six children, Anthony J. Bonitz, Jr., and his wife Deborah, Terrance Allen Bonitz, and his wife Darlene, Lory Susan Neal, and her husband Glen, Timothy Nicholas Bonitz, Sr., and his wife Teresa, Thomas Martin Bonitz, and his wife Laura, and Toby Joseph Bonitz, and his wife Jennifer; 30 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Joanna Louise Petti, and her husband Salvatore, Robert John Bonitz, and his wife Paula, and Linda Sue Mattern, and her husband Ryland. Anthony was preceded in death by a grandson, Terrance Anthony Bonitz;, and a great-grandchild, Mia Faith Dougherty. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anthony's memory to the funeral home to defray funeral expenses.
