Arlene E. Bush

Arlene  E. Bush, 96, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s residence in South Carolina on Monday, March 27, 2023. Born in Hopewell Twp., PA, she was the daughter of the late Roy G. and Anna Mary (Orwig) Schmuck. She was the loving wife of the late Emory N. Bush.

Arlene owned and operated a beauty salon and later worked at Western Electric, Cockeysville, MD, in the cafeteria as a cashier.  She also drove a bus for the York Transportation Company. She was a member of the Shrewsbury Fire Co., Ladies Auxiliary. Arlene enjoyed playing cards, bingo, the marble game Aggravation, going to yard sales, fishing, RVing the United States with Emory and her sister-in-law Eleanor Shepperd, and spending nearly every weekend at the beach with her daughter Sandy and her family and friends.

She is survived by her two daughters Christine S. Whiteford and her husband Robert H. of Summerville, SC, and Sandra D. Aughenbaugh and her husband, Gary L. of York; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. In addition to her late husband and parents, Arlene was preceded in death by a grandchild, a great grandchild, two brothers, and a daughter Rosie Moser.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to a viewing at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 7, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. 2 ^nd St., New Freedom, PA 17349. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Stewartstown, PA 17363.
