Barbara Kathleen Pilarski Fabula, 87, of Freeland, Maryland, died on Oct. 5, 2019. Barb was married to the late Joseph S. Fabula for 64 years. She was the daughter of Frank A. Pilarski and Frances C. Marskie Pilarski and sister of the late Frank Pilarski Jr. and the late Bernadine Crutchley.She is survived by her six children:June McCleary (Cockeysville, Md.), Michael Fabula (New Freedom, Pa.), Marylee Kolodne (Gaithersburg, Md.), Kevin Fabula (Freeland, Md.), Susan Coward (Bel Air, Md.), and Andrew Fabula (Baldwin, Md.),twenty one grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Barbara grew up in Baltimore City where she attended St. Michael’s elementary school and the Institute of Notre Dome.Although born and raised in the city, she quickly adapted first to suburban life in Lutherville, Maryland and then to country life in Freeland, Md.While primarily a homemaker, Barbara also worked many part time jobs at Radebaugh’s Florist in Towson, Md., Farmer’s Daughter Gift and Garden Center in Shrewsbury, Pa. , the Monsignor O’Dwyer Retreat House in Sparks, Md., etc. She was an avid gardener and particularly enjoyed growing flowers and herbs.Always delighted to talk to other gardeners, she and her friends started the Partners in Thyme Herb Club. She passed on her passion for growing plants to her sons, daughters and grandchildren. Viewings will be held Friday, October 11 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St. New Freedom.During the 8 – 9pm hour, we will pray the rosary. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, October 12 at 10am at Our Lady of Grace Parish, 18340 Middletown Rd., Parkton, MD. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Freeland, MD. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Harford County, 2208 Connolly Rd., Fallston, MD 21047.
