Barry E. Gray

Barry E. Gray, 82, passed from this life surrounded by his family and friends on Friday, September 13, 2024. He was the loving husband of the late Janet Anne (Harris) Gray who passed in 2016. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Earl H. and Miriam E. (Tyndale) Gray. Barry proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient. After Vietnam, he worked as a painter and sheet rock installer for various contractors including Baltimore County where he started in 1979 and continued for 30 years. He was a member of the Stewartstown VFW and a life member of the American Legion Post 455 (Stewartstown), the Disabled American Veterans (Baltimore), and the Vietnam Veterans of America. He attended Mason Dixon Baptist Church in New Freedom and enjoyed traveling.

Surviving are three sisters, Carol Dressler, Joyce Caldwell, and Bonnie Rohde; a stepson, Tim Y. Black; a step grandson, Marshall Young Black; 10 nieces and nephews; a beloved cat, Lucy; and a host of extended family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a viewing from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 26 at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. 2nd St., New Freedom, PA 17349. There will be a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 27 at the Mason Dixon Baptist Church, 713 Campbell Road, New Freedom, PA 17349.
