Barry A. Shenk Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at his home . As Heaven celebrates his arrival, his absence on earth is felt with great sadness. All who knew Barry loved him deeply.  His fun-loving spirit and his infectious laughter will be sorely missed. Born in New Park, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Ruth C. (Sutton) Shenk. He was a faithful member of Stewartstown Presbyterian Church, where he served as a trustee for many years.

Barry was the husband of Carol E. (Bacon) Shenk, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Barry and Carol were blessed with four children, Barry A. Jr. and wife Karen (Zimmerman) of New Park; Todd R. of White Hall, MD; Julie E. Rehman and husband Tim of York; and Jeanne M. Day and husband Jim of Glen Rock. He was the loving grandfather of Jacob Shenk and his partner, Brooklyn, Leah (Shenk) Landis and her husband, Zachary, Jordan Shenk and his wife, Sasha (Davidson), Zachary Rehman and his partner, Kimberly, Elizabeth (Rehman) Kramer and her husband, Brandon, Olivia (Rehman) Rhoads and her husband, Luke, Zoe (Rehman) Blackie and her husband, James; and loving great-grandfather of Cale, Dakotah, Trevin, Carson, Adelyn, Barry, Rylan, Titus, Ruby, Austin, and Jackson. He is survived by his niece, Crystal (Shenk) Bull and nephew, Charles E. Shenk, III. He was preceded in death by his son, Barry Jr. and his brother, Charles E. Shenk, Jr.

Barry graduated from Kennard-Dale High School, class of 1958. After having worked for over 26 years at Fleming, he retired from Shrewsbury True Value. He was also a lifelong farmer. Barry enjoyed tending to his garden, and in recent years helping at his son Todd’s produce stand. In his retirement, Barry discovered his talent for painting. His favorite subjects were local barns, mills, and stone farmhouses. He enjoyed having breakfast and socializing with his buddies at Taylor Haus restaurant. He was a fan of all sports, closely following, Penn State football and the Baltimore Orioles. Barry was a high school athlete and he enjoyed attending his children’s and his grandchildren’s school sports activities. Barry was considered the unofficial Mayor of Wiley's Station.

A celebration of Barry’s life will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Stewartstown Presbyterian Church, 14 College Avenue, Stewartstown, PA 17363 with a viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m.
