Betty A. Hildebrand, 90, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late C. Arthur Hildebrand who died in 2017. They were married for 64 years. Born in York, Betty was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Keeney) Godfrey. Betty and her husband owned and operated their farm for many years as well as their farm market. Betty enjoyed bus trips with family and friends, long drives to view the leaves change color, raising gladiolus, mowing the yard (which she found to be very relaxing as she loved being outdoors), playing cards, assembling jigsaw puzzles, completing word puzzles, TV Westerns, bowling and going to auctions. She enjoyed feeding the fish in the family pond. She would drive her golf cart down to the pond every night to feed her fish. Her cooking will be missed by the entire family. Every year during the holidays we would look forward to her turkey filling (or stuffing as some call it), peanut butter fudge and homemade pumpkin pies. The family showed their appreciation by always making sure she was fully stocked with a supply of her favorite candy - Turtles. Surviving are 5 children, Wayne Hildebrand and his wife, Elaine, Daryl Hildebrand and his wife, Peggy, Lyle Hildebrand and his wife Tracey, Tanya Hildebrand, and Loren Hildebrand and his wife, Lori; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a sister, Doris Rehmeyer. Betty was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Godfrey. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service honoring Betty’s life on Friday, February 4, at 11 a.m. at Joseph Giesey Memorial Cemetery, Highland Drive South, Shrewsbury, PA 17361. Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc. of New Freedom is assisting the family with the arrangements. HartensteinCares.com
