Betty J. Lee

At 6:15pm on February 23, 2021, while surrounded by family, Betty J. Lee went home to be with her loving mother, Cora Frye, and her son, Michael Counts. Betty was survived by her husband Norman G. “Frog” Lee, two daughters; Patty and her husband Randy Hammond, Dawn and her husband Jamie Newhouse, two grandchildren Stephanie and Randall Hammond, and brothers Jr. and Jerry Frye, and sister, Mary Sheeler. Betty was many things - the owner, operator and barkeeper of Lee’s Tavern, a York Road landmark. It was here that she could be found serving cold drinks, attitude and a healthy dose of truth. But above all, Betty was the leader of her family, who she always protected and always put first. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family due to the COVID- 19 pandemic. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
