Beverly Gail Hanus

Beverly Gail (Hackler) Hanus, 72, of York passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023. Born on May 18, 1951, in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late Ruth Charles (Barnes) and James Timothy Hackler. She was predeceased by her husband Robert W. Hanus, granddaughter Alyssa, sister Martha (Deal) Cornett, and nephew James Hackler. She is survived by her two sons Brian Hanson and his wife Allison of McKeesport, Pa., and Michael Hanson and his wife Katy of Media, Pa, two stepsons Michael Hanus and his wife Melissa and Steve Hanus and his wife Tracey, seven grandchildren Markus, Mason, Natalie, Lucas, Joshua, Ashley and Stephanie, her two brothers Barry Hackler and his partner Sandy Horning and Mark Hackler and his wife Tammy, brother in law Stuart Cornett, nieces & nephews Lisa (Cornett) Orwig and her husband Bob, Sherry (Hackler) Hill and her husband John, Cindy (Hackler) Hetrick and her husband Karl, James Cornett, Terry Cornett, Amanda (Hackler) Cramer, Crystal Hackler, Melissa Hackler, and Adam Hackler. Gail attended Hereford High School in Parkton, Md. She retired after more than 35 years in various roles at Becton Dickinson. She was a crafter extraordinaire, creating beautiful cards and home decor items. She had a green thumb, especially for succulents. She had a flair for home decorating, and she loved collecting items around a theme. Through the years these themes included owls, lighthouses, M&M figurines, chickens and roosters, Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls, Boyd’s bears, and Americana. More than anything, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, siblings and nieces and nephews. They meant the world to her, and she made sure they knew that. She was a devout Christian, most recently a member of Windsor Church of God in Windsor, Pa., and she deeply felt that God has been with her every step of the way both in her illness and in her life. There will be a public viewing from 10:00am-12:00pm on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care,Inc., 19 S. Main Street, Stewartstown, PA 17363. A funeral service will begin at 12:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at New Bethel Baptist Cemetery; 18954 Ridge Meadow Road, Stewartstown, PA 17363.
