Burl Lee Wolfe

Burl Lee Wolfe, 88, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.  He was the husband of the late Doris L. Wolfe for 61 years until she passed on August 6, 2018. He was born in Philippi, WV on August 2, 1936 to the late Jonathan Owen and Ethel Mae Wolfe.

Burl retired from Baltimore Gas and Electric as a supervisor in 1994 after 38 years of service. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Freedom and a former member of Faith Reformed Episcopal Church in Baltimore, Md.  He enjoyed reading his daily newspaper, spending time with family and friends, watching sports and old westerns, and attending bus trips with the BGE retirees’ association.

Burl is survived by his son Donald E. Wolfe and Don’s fiancée Eveline England, his grandchildren Lisa Lucas, Rachel Wolfe, and Donna Wolfe, and his great grandchildren Garrett Lucas, Uriah Patterson, and Angela Freya Ledford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris, brothers Willard and Douglas, son Mark, daughter in law Marjie, and granddaughters Kathleen and Angela Mae.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 175 E. Main St., New Freedom, PA 17349.  Interment will immediately follow in the New Freedom Cemetery.

Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349 is assisting the family with services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
