Carole Carter

Nancy Carole (Hamer) Carter, aged 80, of New Freedom, Pennsylvania passed peacefully in her sleep on March 27, 2024. A loving wife to Joseph John Carter, III for 61 years. Mother of Gregory Carter, Cindy-Beth Carter, Eric Carter and Amanda Rosier; Grandmother to Nicholas Carter; Jay Cummings; Tabitha Carter, Zackary Carter, and Timothy Carter deceased; Nathaniel Rosier and Austin Rosier; and Great grandmother to Zack Carter, Jackson Carter, Braydon Carter and Oaklee Palmer.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents Ruth Marie Hamer and Willliam Hamer Sr of Highlandtown, MD; and her siblings William Hamer Jr of Jacksonville, MD and Lillian Martin of Houston Texas.

Carole was a homemaker and later worked as a secretary for a variety of trucking concerns in Baltimore. She was foster parent to more than 60 children through the Maryland Childrens Aid Society during the 1970’s and 80’s.

For fun, Carole enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and quilting. She was a nurturer of plants and a collector of birds on her Merlin birding app. She enjoyed shrimp pizza from Squires, steamed crabs from Costas Inn, and dancing to the band Stonehaven Road at Pops Tavern. She liked monthly trips to the Amish country for lunching and shopping for tchotchke’s.
