Catherine S. Benshoof

Catherine S. Benshoof, 97, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Senior Commons at Powder Mill, York. She was a loving wife to the late Dale Marion Benshoof for 62 years before his death in 2006. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Catherine was the daughter of the late Daniel P, and Naomi Price Standiford. She graduated from Eastern High School and attended the Eaton & Burnett Business College. She was an employee of the C&P Telephone/Verizon for over 25 years. Catherine's joy came from helping others. She was the first female president of Hereford High School, was an active member of Pine Grove Methodist Church, volunteered at Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford, DE and helped at Paul’s Place Soup Kitchen for 13 years. She was also a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star of Maryland, #42 Parkton. Most recently, Catherine sewed masks for friends and family. Catherine leaves three children: Edwin Roloson and wife Diana, Marion Lyttle and her husband, Dudley Greer, and Alice Hinterberger and her husband, John; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Dale Daniel Benshoof. A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 24, from 12 – 1 p.m., with a funeral service starting at 1 p.m., at Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 19401 Middletown Road, Parkton, MD 21120. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pine Grove Trustees Fund, 19401 Middletown Road, Parkton, MD 21120.
