Charles J. Brewer

Charles J. Brewer, 83, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 21, 2018.He was the beloved husband of Rita R. (Rivers) Brewer for 55 years.He was born on December 18, 1934 in Delhi, NY to the late Warren and Alvira (Samuels) Brewer.Charles was a veteran of the US Army and Army Reserves.He retired from the Bon-Ton department stores after over 40 years of dedicated service.He was a loved and respected leader within his church community.He held active roles in music ministry and teaching Sunday School among various other roles.He enjoyed golfing, traveling, being outdoors camping and hiking, but especially spending time with his friends and family.Charles is survived by his children, Laurie Brewer, Kimberly Dinneen, Steven Brewer and Michael Brewer and his wife Allison; grandchildren, Jeffrey Brewer, Sean, Catherine, Scot, Tomas and Hannah Dinneen; a great-grandson, Ian Brewer; and one brother, Don Brewer. Public viewing will be from 11am until a funeral service begins at 1pm on Friday, January 26 at Hartenstein Funeral and Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown.Interment will follow in Stewartstown Cemetery.Pastor Steve Warner will officiate.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are requested to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
