Charles A. Ecker

Charles A. Ecker, 82, of Stewartstown, PA, passed away at his residence on Monday, March 20, 2023. He was born on September 13, 1940 to late Sterling and Alice (Riffle) Ecker at Hanover Hospital in Hanover, PA.

Charles graduated from Kennard Dale High School in 1958, where he played basketball, baseball, and football. He attended the York Jr. College for one year, where he continued playing basketball. He was very much a sports person. He played baseball for the Stewartstown team and later became the coach. Charles was also a season ticket holder for the Baltimore Colts and an avid Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens Fan. He also like Nascar and was able to attend several races. Charles had a career working at Magnesita Refractories Co. in York, PA, where he retired after 33 years of service.

In 1963, he married Linda (Jones); they just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in 2022. Charles is survived by his wife, Linda; their daughter, Stephanie Lynn (Ecker) Hilt; and two grandsons, Dylan M. Hilt and Logan R. Ecker. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Brian Scott Ecker, who passed away in 2010; and two sisters, Mildred Pomraning and Delores Rupp.

A public visitation will be held on Monday, March 27th, from 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM at the Stewartstown Baptist Church, 18631 Five Forks Rd., Stewartstown, PA 17363. A memorial service will begin at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Timothy Parker officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the service in the Stewartstown Cemetery.
