Charles William Ferguson, Jr., 83, passed from this life on February 27, 2022. He was born in Franklintown, PA, to the late Charles W. Ferguson Sr. and Ethel (Rinehart) Ferguson. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958-1962. Charles was the owner and operator of his own truck driving business, and after retiring, he worked part-time at Brewery Products Co. in York. He enjoyed bowling, racing, and roller skating at the Playland Skating Rink. He loved anything relating to Ohio State and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. He was a member of St. Jacob’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in York New Salem, the Dallastown VFW, and the Viking Athletic Association of York. Charles is survived by his four children, Duane L. Ferguson (Barbara) of Loganville, Scott A. Ferguson (Lynn P.) of Seven Valleys, James L. Ferguson (Jamie Grove) of Stewartstown, and Denita J. Darr (Kevin) of York; two stepchildren, Shelly Lincoln and Sheila Hernandez; his first wife and current companion, Carole Murphy; 4 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. He is also remembered by three siblings, Richard Ferguson (June), Ruth Stauffer (Elvin), and Dennis Ferguson (Georgianna). Charles was preceded in death by wives Betty Jane (Boyer) Ferguson and Virginia Faye Ferguson, his sister, Phyllis Warner, and his brother, Donald Ferguson. There will be a public viewing on Friday, March 4, from 2 - 4:00 p.m. at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA, with a funeral service beginning at 4:00 p.m. All are welcome to come and honor and celebrate Charlie’s life. Interment will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 9, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA 17003-9618.
