Charles H. Schmid Iii

Charles H. Schmid III, 81, passed from this life on Sunday, July 2, 2023. He was the loving husband to Barbara (Riley) Schmid and they were married on August 13, 1971. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Charles H. Schmid Jr. and Gertrude (Scott) Schmid.

Charles worked as a shipping supervisor for many years with Becton Dickson of Cockeysville, Maryland. He was a longtime member of the American Legion; he was a prior member of the Stewartstown Fish and Game. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He coached his daughter’s softball team for many years. He played on a softball team himself. He was also on a bowling league. He enjoyed camping with his family at Camp Mustang.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Tina L. Brown and her husband, Jay of Brogue, Jenny J. Markline of York, and Becky J. Hege and her fiancé, Bob Hackett of Cape May, NJ; eight grandchildren, Leah, Tiffany, Darryl, Cory, Shawn, Nikki, Bobby, and Sammy; and seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Linda M. Farese of Shrewsbury.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a viewing from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 7, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, PA 17363 with a funeral starting at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Norrisville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
