Charles "Chuck" Albert Simpson

Charles Albert Simpson of Shrewsbury, PA, entered into God’s care Monday, April 10, 2023 at the age of 85. He was the husband of Sandra Kay Simpson of Shrewsbury and the late Florine ''Flo'' (Polito) Simpson to whom he was married 50 years who entered into rest on Nov. 1, 2007. “Chuck” was born June 9, 1937, in York to the late Earle W. and Ruby Jane (Newcomer) Simpson.

Chuck was a part of the groundbreaking crew and first full class to graduate from Susquehannock High School in 1955. He attended the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science which was known as the nation’s oldest pharmacy college; graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1959.  He worked for more than 50 years as a Pharmacist with Rea & Derick who got bought out by People’s Drug, American Stores & ultimately by CVS Pharmacy where he retired from in 2006.

He was active in the Boy Scouts of America with Troop 90 in Shrewsbury, having attained the Order of the Arrow Rank in Scouting. He was an endowment member of NRA, Roaring Run Gun Club. His favorite hobby was hunting, he was one with nature and a very successful black bear hunter.

A Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. – 1:00p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 Second St., New Freedom. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

In addition to his wife Sandra, he is survived by his children, Thomas Simpson, Joseph Simpson, Patrick Simpson, William Simpson, and Cheryl (Simpson) Rose; step son Tim Erwine; ten grandchildren, three step grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and his brother David Simpson.

Chuck was also predeceased by a son, James E. Simpson.
