Charlotte (Campbell) Cox Smith, 83, of York, died September 14, 2016. She was the loving wife of the late Bobby Ray Cox and the late James E. Smith, Sr. A viewing will be held from 10 am until 11 am Monday, September 19, 2016, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, with a funeral service beginning at 11 am with Rev. Melissa A. McDade officiating. Interment will be in the New Freedom Cemetery. Born July 9, 1933, in Bakersville, NC, Charlotte was the daughter of the late James L. and Mary H. (Hughes) Campbell. She retired from AMP in Loganville in 1992 after 15 years of service. She had previously worked at Black & Decker, Hampstead, MD, for 10 years, and at Suada Brothers Sewing Factory, Glen Rock, for 14 years. Surviving is a daughter, Linda Kay Calaman, wife of Dale of York; two granddaughters, Cynthia K. Brooks, and her husband Michael of York, and Bobbilin Smyser, and her husband Matt; 4 great grandchildren, Emily and Austin Ilgenfritz, Harmony Lighty, and Mercy Smyser; two sisters, Bonnie Garland of Frederick, MD, and Mae Goeller of Hickory, NC.
