Charlotte H. (Hamje) Thompson, 86, died Saturday, January 30, 2016, at York Hospital. A private celebration of Charlotte's life will be held at the convenience of her family. Born January 10, 1930, in Floral Park, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Nicklas D. and Irene A. (Ulrich) Hamje. Charlotte was a member of Grace Church Shrewsbury, the New Freedom Women's Club and the Red Hat Society. She was a former Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader and was once active in the AFS (American Foreign Exchange) program at Susquehannock High School. Charlotte volunteered at the former New Freedom Library and loved nature, gardening and cooking. Surviving are her children, Kathryn M. Silvin and her husband, Pete Kedzia of Bel Air, Md., Nancy Anne Chase and her husband, John of Panama, Carol T. Brenneman and her husband, Denny of Seven Valleys, Susan T. Kelly and her husband, David of York, and Robert C. Thompson and his wife, Cynthia of Mt. Holly Springs; seven grandchildren, Dawn, Paul, Jennifer, James, Eric, Cheney and Reese; and lifelong friends (family), Joan Maruskin, Bonnie Everett and Jane Summers. Charlotte was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Farrell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Charlotte's name may be made to the York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail N., York, PA 17406.
