Clarence E. Nace, 78, passed from this life on Friday, February 9, 2024. He was the loving husband to Eileen L. (Whye) Nace and they celebrated 52 years of marriage in January. Born in Glen Rock, he was the son of the late Elmer and Margaret (Wolf) Nace.
He graduated from Susquehannock High School in 1963 and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army from November 1965 and was discharged March 1966. He was a lifelong farmer. Clarence took office for the Shrewsbury Twp. Board of Supervisors on January 1978 and served until December 1999. He served on the Township Ag Review and Ag Security Committee until December 2013. He became a full member of the York County Solid Waste and Refuse Authority’s Board of Directors in 2000 and since that time, has volunteered countless hours and tirelessly dedicated his expertise to forwarding the mission of the Authority. He retired in 2019. Clarence was a life member of the Rough & Tumble Engineers Historical Association, Kinzers, PA, where he loved to attend the steam shows.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Eileen, are three siblings, Hilda Arendt, Hazel Mummert, and Carroll Nace and his wife, Chevy. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clair Nace.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a viewing from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, February 17 at New Hope (‘Fissel’s) U.C.C., 3426 Fissel’s Church Road, Glen Rock, PA 17327 with a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Clarence will be laid to rest in the adjoining church cemetery immediately following the service. Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc. of New Freedom is assisting the family with the arrangements.
