Clarence Henry Ropp, 91, of Jacobus, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023. Born in Red Lion, PA, he was a son of the late Clarence E. and Mary (McGurk) Ropp. He was the loving husband of Gail Y. (Baker) Ropp of Jacobus.
Clarence graduated from Red Lion High School, Class of 1951. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was previously employed with Smith Village in Jacobus and then at Romberger’s Appliance in York until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of Red Lion Bible Church and was a member of Dallastown American Legion, Post 605. His favorite hobbies include hunting, fishing, crafts, and painting.
Clarence is survived by his wife Gail and four children, Roxanne Witman, Joseph Ropp, Rosemarie Ropp, and Joel Ropp; eight grandchildren Brian Witman, Matthew Witman, Richelle Sutton, Joshua Witman, Sharon Krout, Bobbie Warner, Logan Ropp and Madison Ropp; eleven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and two siblings, J. Weldon Ropp , and Palmer Ropp. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Roseanne Ropp and grandson Shawn Witman.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., May 25, 2023 at Red Lion Bible Church; 105 Springvale Rd, Red Lion, PA 17356. Interment will follow in Windsor Cemetery, Windsor, PA with military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc. 24 N. 2nd St., New Freedom, PA 17349 is assisting the family with services.
