Clement A. Marchildon, 93, passed from this life on Thursday, June 16, 2022. He was the loving husband of the late Verda L. (Lucas) Marchildon. Born in Cairo, IL, Clement, fondly known as ‘Clem’ or ‘C.A.’, was the son of the late Clement A. and Joe Katherine (Kuykendall) Marchildon. Clem proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 to 1968, working as an electronic superintendent, and then retired to work in the civilian sector. A 1970 graduate of the University of Maryland, he also worked for Westinghouse Electric in Hunt Valley, MD, from 1968-1991. He was the New Freedom Borough Manager from 1992 to 1995, he served eight years on the New Freedom Borough Council, and was Borough Treasurer as well for three years. Clem was a member of the New Freedom Lions Club, the Knights of Columbus, and he volunteered at the York Hospital. Clem was also a lay minister at the church. He was religious and faithful, loved to be with his family, and he enjoyed hosting breakfasts at the J & B’s Grill. He was a wonderful man and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Surviving are four daughters: Mary Jo Adams and her husband, Jeffrey, Suzanne C. Hodges and her husband, Richard, Kimberly A. McDonald and her husband, Richard, and Nancy L. Marchildon and her partner, Wesley Ormrod III; six grandchildren, Sarah Anderson, Brian Adams and his wife, Caroline, Matthew McDonald and his wife, Jennifer, Daniel Adams and his wife, Rachael, Alex McDonald and his wife, Amanda, and Kellie McDonald; five great grandchildren, Soraya Thompson, Ellsie Adams, Zachary Adams, Mackinnon McDonald, and Charlie McDonald. Clem was preceded in death by a son, Kevin H. Marchildon, a daughter, Joan C. Marchildon, and two sisters, Margaret LaMar and Patricia Waterman. There will be a Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 24, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 315 N. Constitution Ave., New Freedom, PA 17349. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Please omit flowers.
