It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David W. Heath, 85, of New Freedom, from this life on Friday, July 19, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family. Dave was a man of unwavering faith, deep love, and a boundless spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him. He shared a beautiful, lifelong marriage with his cherished wife, Anna Pauline (Hackler) Heath who passed on July 2, 2022, celebrating sixty-four years of marriage on September 27, 2021. Together, they created a warm and loving home filled with laughter, music, and an abundance of love. His devotion to his family was unparalleled, and his children and grandchildren were the light of his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be remembered for generations to come. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late James W. and Lena (Thomas).
An avid outdoorsman, Dave found joy and serenity in the natural world. He spent countless hours camping, fishing, hunting, and riding bikes with his loved ones. These moments of solitude and connection with nature were a testament to his appreciation for life's simple, beautiful gifts. Dave loved hosting Saturday cookouts by the pool and Sunday afternoon lunches. He was very charismatic and Papaw to all who loved and cherished him.
A man of deep faith, Dave had a profound love for God. His voice was a gift that he shared generously, singing gospel music with a passion that uplifted and inspired everyone around him. His songs were a reflection of his heart and soul, filled with praise and gratitude.
With a heart as big as his smile, Dave had a unique ability to bring joy to others. His laughter was infectious, and his sense of humor brightened even the darkest days. He had an uncanny knack for making people feel special and loved, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Surviving are two children, Johnny Heath and his wife, Tamie, and Janice Boyd and her husband, Gary; eight grandchildren; David & Melissa, Heidi & Danny, Kendi & Bradly, Brandon & Stephanie, Dylan & Alicia, Audrei & Matthew, Dakota & Jennifer, Tyler & Jessica; fourteen great grandchildren, Braydin, Maddex, Preston, Heath, Hopelyn, Aurelia, Peyton, Annalee, Roland, Mila, Carson, Emmeline, Harper, and Jaxston; and two siblings, Bob Heath and Juanita Keener and her husband, Jake. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rose Heath; stillborn siblings, R.T. Heath, R.C. Heath (who was his twin), T.J. and R.J. Heath; a brother, James Heath and a sister, Agnes Pruett.
Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of those who loved him dearly.
