Dennis "Popeye" Slagle

Dennis SlagleNew FreedomDennis "Popeye" Slagle, 58, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of Thomasine Slagle of Rosedale, Md. Following cremation, a Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Shrewsbury Baptist Church, 612 West Clearview Drive, Shrewsbury, PA 17361, with the Rev. Francis Schimming officiating. Military honors by York County Veterans Honor Guard will be at 11 a.m. Dennis was born September 1, 1957 in Bristol, Tenn., son of Dorothy E. (Sluder) Fullen and the late Gene Edgar Slagle. Dennis served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Mullinnix. He had been employed with AMP in Shrewsbury for 20 years during the 1980's and 1990's. He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his grandsons, Mason and Logan. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy E. (Sluder) Fullen and stepfather, Dennis Fullen of New Freedom; wife, Thomasine (Gabriel) Slagle of Rosedale, Md.; son, Matt Forse and wife, Christa of Laurel, Md.; daughter, Rebecca Rummel of Stewartstown; brother, Jeffrey Slagle; and niece, Charity Slagle. He was predeceased by two brothers, Danny and Eddie Slagle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shrewsbury Baptist Church at the address noted above. J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, is assisting the family with arrangements.
