Donald E. Hines, son of Boyd E. and Oneita P. Hines, was born May 14, 1954 in Knoxville, TN, and died on April 28, 2022 in New Freedom, PA. He graduated from Young High School in Knoxville, 1972 and completed his education at University of Tennessee in 1976. Donny, as we knew him, moved to the Maryland area in 1985 and worked in the optical industry, serving various companies.He then changed careers and went into the IT Consulting Business for both large and small companies, providing technical support, repairs and updates as well as consulting services for necessary upgrades and changes.In 2001, he opened the doors to his own company, Business Data Systems LLC.Many clients turned into acquaintances and acquaintances into lifelong friends. In 2010, Donny teamed up with Mark Scott and together they decided York needed a Business Networking Group and chose to join forces with BNI (Business Networking International).Today the group, BNI York II, has grown to a current membership of 51 local business persons.He was instrumental in the growth and potential of this group and they affectionately referred to him as the “Bulldog” because he felt everyone had a place and should be afforded the opportunity to thrive, yet strive to be the best in their profession.He rarely accepted a “no” from anyone and had the motto “Never Give Up” He was recognized by the PA Senate for his creative business savvy, dedication and ongoing support for success and growth of BNI and its code of Ethics. On November 4, 2000, he married Kitty Lin (Burke) Heidlebaugh and was blessed to be welcomed into a new family who grew to love him deeply and will miss him dearly. His life will forever by cherished by his daughters:Colleen Hines Beltz, (Sam), Lindi Heidlebaugh, Abbey Heidlebaugh LeCompte (Kenny); his grandchildren: Matthew Beltz, Julianna Beltz, and Abigail Beltz, as well as Seth Heidlebaugh (Amanda), Daylon Gohn, Donovan Gohn, Katelin LeCompte, and Kilby LeCompte.He was predeceased by a son, Ryan E. Hines in 1998. Surviving are his siblings, Vicki Hines, Michael Hines (Silvyia) and Stephen Hines (Brenda), all from the Knoxville TN area, as well as nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.He is also survived by the mother of Colleen and Ryan, Maureen “Mimi” McGrellis of Georgia. Services will be held at Grace Church Shrewsbury, 473 Plank Road, New Freedom, PA 17349 on May 14, 2022 at 11:00.A time to gather with family will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00.May 14th, is Donny’s actual birth date, so we will be celebrating both the original day and his Homecoming. Their attentiveness to his needs and to each of ours is something we will be forever grateful.
