On Wednesday, October 26, 2016, Donald W. Keesey, 100, died at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elva (Rehmeyer) Keesey. Public visitation will be from 10 a.m. until a memorial service begins at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 8426 Church Road, Felton, PA 17322. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. James B. Shuler will officiate. Donald was born in Stewartstown on February 28, 1916 to Foster and Nellie (Hyson) Keesey. He graduated from Red Lion High School in 1933 then went on to attend various colleges and received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education from Millersville University. Donald taught metal and wood shop for more than 45 years at several high schools, including Rockville HS, Red Lion HS and his longest tenure was at Kennard Dale HS, where he retired from. He was a member of the Stewartstown Lions Club for many years; a lifetime member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and a trustee. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood carving, reading, playing cards (especially 500 rummy), enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and exploring different states in his RV. Surviving him are five children, Donald Robert Keesey and his wife, Penny, Joyce E. Keesey, Donna Lehman and her husband, Phil, Bonnie Hill and her husband, Jim, and Cindy R. Myers and her husband, Norm; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Donald is preceded in death by his wife; parents; and four sisters, Janet George, Isabel Kearns, Margaret Zeigler and Eleanor Skogman. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are recommended to Hopewell Presbyterian Church at the address listed above.
