Donald Glenn Wertz

Donald G. “Donny” Wertz, 89, of Hampstead, MD, passed away July 10, 2018. He was the husband of Dorothy (Frantz) Wertz to whom he was married 65 years. Donald was born in 1929 to Thomas Vernon and Leola (Marshall) Wertz. Following his retirement from Petro Heat and Power Corp., Donald became interested in amateur photography often taking wonderful photos of landscapes and architecture. He was also an avid musician, playing guitar and whistling beautifully. Donald loved bluegrass and country music and was also a stand-in musician on one episode of Hee-Haw. Donald will be fondly missed by his family, friends, and church family at St. Paul’s Church as a witty individual with a great sense of humor, and a love for the lord. In addition to Dorothy, Donald is survived by 3 children, Donna Whedbee, Jodey DeRemigis (John), Thomas David Wertz (Donna); 7 grandchildren Melissa, Danielle, Alisha, Shannon, Laura, Joshua, and Amanda; 10 great-grandchildren Lexi, Chase, Vince, Tyler, Faith, Landen, Zoe, Lilyanna, Emmie, and Miles; 1 sister Agnes Virginia Crouse, and 1 brother Thomas James Wertz. Donald is preceded in death by a great-granddaughter Payton and a sister Earline Neal. Funeral services will be held Saturday July 14th, 2018 at 1PM from Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349 with Pastor John Warnken officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Church Cemetery in Millers, MD. A viewing will be held at 11 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
