Donna M. Hake, 72, of Seven Valleys, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 after a difficult battle with Glioblastoma. Born in York to the late Richard Eugene and Lyle Marie (O’Keefe) Hake, Donna's journey was marked by love and dedication.
A graduate of Dallastown Area High School, Class of 1969, Donna's educational journey led her to earn a Bachelor of Science from Shippensburg State College in 1973 and a Masters of Education from Shippensburg University in 1991. The dedication Donna had for her students and the Spring Grove Area School District was unwavering and could be seen throughout her entire career from the moment she began as an intermediate math teacher until she retired as the assistant superintendent of pupil services. Over the years, Donna received numerous awards in education, which was a reflection of the profound impact she had on her students.
Beyond her professional achievements, Donna's heart belonged to her family, particularly her nieces and nephews. Her love for travel took her across the United States and Europe, adding rich experiences and much joy to her vibrant life. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing bingo, baking, cheering on the Steelers, as well as challenging herself with word games and puzzles. Decorating her home for the holidays and extending hospitality to her family and her many treasured friends, were examples of her warm and welcoming spirit.
Donna is survived by her 2 sisters, Melody McCleary and husband Donald McCleary, of Glen Rock, PA, and Holly Murnin and husband, Robert Murnin, of Huntingtown, MD; her nieces and nephews, Donald McCleary (Teresa), Lindsey Hoban (Travis), Jessica Murnin, and Timothy Murnin; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Landyn, Grace, Finnegan, Jayden, Makayla and Hannah.
