Donna L. Markle

Donna L. Markle,85, of York passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at ManorCare in Dallastown. She was the wife of Ray W. Markle to whom she was married 64 years. Born in Red Lion she was the daughter of Clarence W. and Susan A. (Stump) Whitcraft. Donna was a material handler at the former J.H. Stern Garment Co. in Seven Valleys before her marriage. She cleaned houses in this area for 30 years retiring in 1989. Donna was a member of St. Paul (Hametown) Lutheran Church in Glen Rock where she was a former choir member. She was also a former member of AARP. Donna enjoyed traveling, word search puzzles, playing cards and loved spending time with her family, grandsons and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Ray, she is survived by two sons Randy R. Markle and Douglas E. Markle; two grandsons Adam Markle and wife Whitney and Ryan Markle; two great-grandchildren Nathalie and Nicholas Markle; one brother LeRoy C. Whitcraft and wife Janice of Dallastown. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11AM from St. Paul (Hametown) Lutheran Church, 11894 Susquehanna Trail South, Glen Rock with Rev. Katie Brantner officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.Viewings for Donna will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8PM from Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St. New Freedom and from 10AM-11AM on Wednesday at the Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Paul (Hametown) Lutheran Church at the above listed address and or Heartland Hospice Care, 3417-C Concord Rd., York, PA 17402. Donna’s family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Manor Care as well as from Heartland Hospice for all the great care they had provided to her during her illness.
