Doreen M. Carl

Doreen M. Carl (nee Pearse) (97) of Cross Keys Village-The Brethren Home Community died peacefully in her sleep with family in attendance on May 28, 2023. She had recently had a serious fall. Doreen was born in Plymouth, England and came to the United States as a war bride from WWII. In addition to raising their six children, Doreen was active in her Catholic Church, The Homemaker’s Clubs in addition to her hobbies of raising flower gardens, knitting, sewing, and developing her culinary skills. (She was a very good cook.) Doreen’s husband John M. Carl Jr. predeceased her in 2007 in Moorefield, WV. Her children are Doreen Carl, Pam Gawrych (Rich), Pat Neumann (Harry), Fran Carl (Walt Williams), Robert Carl (Tracy), and John Carl III (Susan). Her descendants number 9 grandchildren and 13 1/2 great grandchildren. Her funeral Mass with be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; 6084 W. Canal Rd., Abbottstown, PA 17301 on June 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. The viewing will be for an hour before the Funeral Mass. Her Burial and Celebration of Life will be at a later date in Fisher, WV and she will be laid to rest next to her husband of 62 years.
