Our loving mother, Edna May Bull, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at her home in New Freedom at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late John E. Bull Sr., whom she celebrated 56 years of marriage with before his passing in 2007.
Born in Baltimore, MD on October 24,1932, she was the daughter of the late Elmer H. and Marie F. (Bender) Stein. Edna was a homemaker and mother of seven whose life was centered on family. She was known for her unconditional love, strength of spirit, and love of God. She had a way that drew people to her and a smile that was shared by many people, simply beautiful inside and out. A lover of life and new experiences, she experienced her first international travels in her 70’s, including trips to Rome, Scotland, Greece and England with her daughter and son. In her 80’s, Edna’s typical day included driving herself to Stewartstown Senior Aerobics (3-5 times a week for over 20 years), attending mass at St. John’s Catholic Church of New Freedom (where she was a parishioner for over 60 years) browsing local shopping stores, visiting her grandchildren and attending to her flower and vegetable gardens. Edna enjoyed bingo, cooking, and her collection of recipe books. Her home cooked meals will be a cherished memory.
Surviving her are two sons, John E. Bull Jr. of New Freedom, Joseph S. (Joyce) Bull of New Freedom, Darlene (Greg) Reider of Railroad, Diana (Timothy) Beaumont of Glen Rock, Deborah (David) Waltemire of Stewartstown, Dolores (James) Revels of Blue Bell, and Donna (Brian) Henz of Stewartstown; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren with another due in January, and one great great grandchild; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her 9 siblings: sisters Anna E. Sessa and Marie F. Getz; brothers Joseph E., Richard E., Melvin W., Leroy H., Elmer H. Jr., Edwin H., and George M. Stein.
