Edna L. Mapstone (Evans)

Edna Lee Mapstone, 74, died Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Rev. Gerald Mapstone and they celebrated 53 years of marriage on June 1, 2016. There will be a memorial service 2 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Glenview Alliance Church, 10037 Susquehanna Trail South, Glen Rock, PA 17327 with Rev. Joseph Burchill and Rev. Tim Allen officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private. J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, is assisting the family. Edna was born September 1, 1942, in Pearl River, N.Y., a daughter of the late Margaret H. (Steers) Evans. Edna was an event planner with the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. She also was the National Director of Women's Ministry, a schoolteacher for the Christian School of York, and author of numerous articles in the Alliance Life and other denominational magazines. She will be remembered as a committed follower of Jesus, a loving mother, a true friend, and a fantastic wife. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Kimberly Dawn Gockley, and her husband, Randy of Denver, PA, and Kristen Lee Haeseker, and her husband, Brent of Crystal River, Fla.; a sister, Margaret Moss, and her husband, John of Campbell Hall, N.Y.; and a brother-in-law, Henry Davis of Renseler, N.Y. Including many nieces and nephews. Edna was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes (Bibs) Davis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Edna's memory to: Summit Grove Camp, 140 S. Front St., New Freedom, PA 17349.
