Edwina Hope Bilger

Edwina Hope Bilger, 86, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020. She was the loving of wife of Richard G. Bilger Sr. and they celebrated 69 years of marriage in 2019. Born in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Edward W. and Carmine (Crum) Jones. Hope was very involved in her community. She was a life member of the Hereford Volunteer Fire Company, which she joined in 1985, and the Office of Chaplain and several other committees during her time as a member. She was a life member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Hereford Volunteer Fire Company, which she joined in 1985, as well as serving as President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and was member of several additional committees during her time as a member. Hope was also a life member of the Hereford Volunteer Ambulance Association, which she joined in 1969, as well as an Emergency Medical Technician, an IV Technician, and President. She was a Hall of Fame Inductee 2013 Baltimore County Vol. Firefighters Association Delegate for many years to the Annual Convention and Conference of the Maryland State Firemen's Association. Surviving in addition to her husband, Richard, are six children: Edward William Bilger and his wife, Anita of AZ, David Scott Bilger Sr. and his wife, Crista of Delta, Mark Andrew Bilger and his wife, Nancy Burton of Hampstead, Md., Paul Herbert Bilger Sr. and his girlfriend, Lorraine of Berryville, VA, Kristina Hope Hoerl and her husband, Tom of Rosedale, Md., and Melissa Dawn Ensor and her husband, W. Greg of Monkton, Md.; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Hope was preceded in death by a son, Richard Bilger Jr. and two sisters, B. Maebudd Jones and Vivian Frances Yarnall. Services and interment are private and at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Hope’s memory to: Hereford Volunteer Fire Company or the Hereford Volunteer Ambulance Association.
