Elaine E. Schmitt

Elaine E. Schmitt, 79, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. She was the loving wife of Charles ‘Ed’ Schmitt for over 61 years. Elaine and Ed were two soul mates who shared the same birth date, only two years apart. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late John V. and Elizabeth (Murray) Butta. Elaine had worked for many years in collections for the state of Maryland and will be remembered as a caring woman who went above and beyond, both at work and in her personal life.

Elaine was a devoted wife, a loving mother, dedicated grandmother, and an understanding and caring friend. She will forever be remembered as someone who took care of everyone she loved. She worked hard and sacrificed for the health and happiness of her family. Everyone whose lives she touched will remember her bright smile, bubbling laughter, sharp sense of humor, and gentle touch. She will be greatly missed, but her memory will live on.

Surviving in addition to her beloved husband and son Charles “Chuck” Schmitt Jr. of Baltimore, MD; two granddaughters and their husbands, Jessica and Matt Reiblich of Hanover PA, Allison and Brian Baublitz of Timonium MD; two sibilings and their spouses, Marlene Morlan and Carmine Calabro, and Jeffery and Linda Butta, all of Florida. The family is also awaiting the arrival of baby Reiblich in May.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a viewing from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, Pa 17363.
