Elenor Elizabeth Shepperd, 103, passed from this life on Thursday, January 11, 2024. She was the loving wife to the late Lloyd Willis Shepperd who passed in 1972. Born in Cross Roads, York County, Pennsylvania, Elenor was the daughter of the late Earl Emmons and Zora Ethel (Hamilton) Bush.
After graduating from high school, Elenor graduated from a work/study program for nursing at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and was licensed as a registered nurse (RN). She then worked for several years as a nurse in Miami, Florida, for the U.S. Army Forces during WWII. This was the precursor of the U.S. Air Force. Elenor met her husband, Lloyd, in Miami. He was a pilot for Pan American Airways and they traveled around the world, living in Baltimore, Miami, Long Island, Brazil, England, and Germany.
After returning to her roots in Pennsylvania in 1967, she lived on a farm in New Freedom for 48 years. Even after her husband passed, she took many international trips; she bought a camper truck and traveled all over the US with her brother, Emory and his wife, Arlene. Her brother, Bob, also had great longevity; he passed two years ago to the day at the age of 104. She was a longtime member of the congregation at the Stewartstown United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her two sons, Stanley Wayne Shepperd, and Robert Andrew Shepperd; six grandchildren, Scott Philip Hayden (wife, Anita), David Roy Shepperd, Sage Sarah (Shepperd) Cantrell (husband, Eric), Allison Shepperd Chandler (husband, Thomas), Erin Shepperd Sulkowski (husband, Nicholas), and Kathryn Shepperd Ory (husband, Clint); and eight great grandchildren, Corbin Cantrell, Victor Cantrell, Lauren Chandler, John Chandler, Shepperd Chandler, Noah Sulkowski, Israella Sulkowski, and Reed Ory. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Ann (Shepperd) Hayden, and her two brothers, Robert Wayne Bush and Emory Nelson Bush.
Services and interment are at the convenience of her family. Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc. of Stewartstown is assisting the family with the arrangements. To leave a condolence message, please visit HartensteinCares.com.
