Elizabeth Ann Rufo

d. December 7, 2018

Elizabeth Ann Rufo of Long Neck, DE (formerly of New Freedom, PA) - our beloved “Betty Ann” – wife, mother, “grandmom,” aunt, and friend – surrendered this life December 7th, 2018 to be with our Lord and those that went before her. She died as she had lived, surrounded by loving family from near and far, both present and through distance. Betty was the youngest of the Kelly family. Her father, Daniel Webster Kelly, and mother, Marian Kelly, raised Betty with her three sisters and her brother in Philadelphia, PA. Betty was a 1961 graduate of the West Philadelphia Catholic Girls’ High School. She married Richard Rufo and remained married to him until the day of her passing. The couple moved to New Freedom, PA to raise their family and became well-known in the community. Her love for her family was undeniable – they were her greatest and proudest achievement. She loved them above all else. Betty is survived by her husband, Richard, with whom she would have celebrated 57 years of marriage in January; her six sons and “daughters”; Rick and Barbara Rufo of Seven Valleys, PA; Peter and Jennifer Rufo of York, PA; Robert “Bob” and Deborah Rufo of York, PA; James “Dean” and Teresa Rufo of Spring Grove, PA; Edward “Jeff” and Lisa Rufo of Felton, PA; and Kevin and Jennifer Rufo of Alton, IL. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and countless others whose lives she touched during her 75 years on this earth. From the family you loved so much – we love you, and while we will miss you terribly, we will cherish the memories you gave to us. We were blessed to have known you. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a viewing from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main Street, Stewartstown, with a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the New Freedom Cemetery.
