Elva M. Smith

Elva M. (Bailey) Smith, 92, of Freeland, MD passed away Thursday, August 12, 2021 at ManorCare Health Services in Dallastown. She was the wife of the late W. Kenneth “Ken” Smith who passed away on March 5, 2021; together they were married 50 years. Born in Glen Rock, PA she was a daughter of the late John P. and Lula M. (Lloyd) Bailey. She loved baking and enjoyed raising calves on farm with her husband Ken. Elva was a great seamstress, wife and mother. She was a longtime member of Bethlehem Steltz Reformed Church. She is survived by her son Brian Smith and his partner Leah Zimmerman of New Freedom. She was preceded in death by four siblings Gilbert, Mearle, Elvin “Shorty,” and Treva. A Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Bethlehem Steltz Reformed Church, 5890 Steltz Road, Glen Rock, PA 17327.Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church with Rev. John C. Dorr, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., New Freedom is assisting the family with services.
