Ernestine Slaughter, late, of Baltimore, MD, was born on Feb. 3, 1926, and left our presence on Feb 3, 2023. She lived an extraordinary life and was loved by many family members and friends. As a young woman, Ernestine pursued education at every turn and spent a summer studying at Cambridge, England. She served her community as a teacher in the Baltimore Public School System for 30 years, part of which was spent teaching typing at Western High School. For many years after, she volunteered at the Library for the Deaf and Print Disabled and spoke fondly of her time there. Ernestine contributed to the Arts whenever possible and supported theater in her community. When not volunteering, world travel was among her past times and loves which included time in Africa filming life around Mount Kilimanjaro. Ernestine joined her parents and three brothers in eternal rest after 97 years in our presence. She will be missed and mourned by a daughter, grandchildren, a great number of nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors. Interment will be in her birthplace of Hampton, Virginia.
