Eva E. Wood, 91, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022. She was the loving wife of 62 years to the late Charles F. Wood. Born in Confluence, PA, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Margaret (Murray) Hyatt. Eva worked at Pretty Boy Elementary School for 19 years, before her retirement. She was a founder, charter, and prominent member of Mason-Dixon Baptist Church in New Freedom. Eva was also a member of the children’s program and the gardening committee. Eva could often be found gardening or reading in her free time. She is survived by her two sons, Mike Wood (Shelley) and Ray Wood (Jeanie); 4 grandchildren, Wes Wood, Evan Wood, David Wood and Rachel Draper; and 5 great grandchildren, Isaiah, Hannah, Silas, Nora, and Everett. Eva is predeceased by 5 siblings, Sarah McCarty, Nancy Fulmer, James Hyatt, Max Hyatt, and William Hyatt. A public visitation will be held on Monday, February 28th, from 6-8pm at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am, at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 1st. Interment will immediately follow in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, 200 E. Padonia Rd., Lutherville-Timonium, MD 21093. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 314 Good Dr., Lancaster, PA 17603.
