Evelyn Mccullough

June 16, 1924 — August 23, 2018

Evelyn S. McCullough, 94, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018. She was the loving wife of the late Clyde W. McCullough who passed away in 1974. She was born in White Hall, Md., a daughter of the late James E. and Nellie Rae (Almony) Slade. She retired as a belt worker from Noxell Corp., Cockeysville, Md., in 1986 after 12 years of service. She was a lifelong member of Vernon United Methodist Church, and a member of New Beginnings, Stewartstown, and their bible study group. From 1962-1968, she was the owner/operator of McCullough’s Grocery Store, Shane, Md. During the 1950’s she was employed at Sparks Bank, Sparks, Md. Surviving are four daughters: Claudia Sue Simmons, and her husband James of Stewartstown; Barbara Jean Kiser, and her husband Butch of Timonium, Md.; Doris May Dunivant of York; and Jo Ann Chaffman, and her husband Milton of Timonium, Md.; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by four siblings, J. Carroll Slade, Eldon Slade, Miriam Snyder, and Ella Mullis. There will be a viewing from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. There will be a second viewing on Wednesday, August 29, from 10-11 a.m. at Vernon United Methodist Church, 18600 Vernon Road, White Hall, Md.21161, with a funeral service starting at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn’s memory to: S.P.C.A. of York Co., 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406 or to Animal Rescue, Inc., 2 Heritage Farm Dr., New Freedom, PA 17349. The family would like to thank Memorial White Rose Home Health & Hospice of York for their wonderful care, compassion, and support, not only for Evelyn, but for her family as well.
