Evelyn Irene (Hersey) Paules, 89, died Saturday, November 5, 2016. She was the wife of the late Frank H. Paules whom she married July 4, 1946. The two traveled all 50 states together in their 67 years of marriage. At Evelyn's request, there will be no public viewing. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 11 at Stewartstown United Methodist Church, 26 S. Main St., Stewartstown. Interment will follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York. Pastor Larry W. Parlett will officiate. Evelyn was born July 24, 1927 in Stewartstown to the late Everett Q. and Lottie E. (Waltemyer) Hersey. She was a 1945 graduate of Stewartstown High School, then worked for the former Stewartstown Manufacturing Company for many years. Evelyn was the first female police officer in Stewartstown and the first director of the Stewartstown Senior Center, beginning in 1974. For several years, she was a den mother for Cub Scout Pack #27 in Stewartstown and was a lifelong member of Stewartstown United Methodist Church where she also taught Sunday school. She is survived by two sons, Thomas E. and Michael S. Paules; and one brother, Melford Q. Hersey. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two siblings, Erma J. Berwager and George G. Hersey. In lieu of flowers, donations in Evelyn's name may be made to the Stewartstown Area Senior Center, PO Box 235, Stewartstown, PA 17363.
