Franklin D. Walker, Sr., 87, of York passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Dixie L. (Bloom) Walker who passed away in 1994. Born in Lobelia, WV he was a son of the late Ezra E. and Myrtle F. (McNulty) Walker. Frank retired as a machinist in 1994 from the former Caterpillar Inc. in York after 27 years of service. He then worked at Product Design in York. He was a member of the Vikings Athletic Association, Pleasureville Post #799 American Legion, VFW Post #556, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #148, Lodge #451 Free and Accepted Masons all in York, Starview Sportsman’s Association in Mt. Wolf and served his country in the US Navy during Korea. Frank is survived by his three children Franklin D. Walker, Jr., Christine C. Counts and husband Randy and Sylvia A. Frey; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; three brothers Dallas, Vernon and Eugene Walker; one sister Mary Clutter. He was preceded in death by a brother Patrick Walker and three sisters Bernice Lucabaugh, Alma Heyne and Mildred Brown. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 11AM from Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St. with Rev. Dr. Mark L. Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at the New Freedom Cemetery rendered by the York County Veteran Honor Guard. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8PM at the funeral home. Everyone in attendance for Tuesday and Wednesday will be required to wear a face mask for everyone’s continued health and safety.
