Frederick ‘Fred’ L. Henry Sr., of Dallastown, entered peacefully into rest at the Dallastown Nursing Center on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Fred was 90 years of age. He was the husband of the late Etta M. (Overmiller) Henry, to whom he was married to for over 50 years. Born in York on November 10, 1934, he was the son of the late Wilber J. Henry Sr. and Goldie (Arnsberger) Henry.
Fred retired in 2018 at the age of 83 from Henry’s Ham, the iconic sandwich stand at Central Market, York, PA, that he owned and operated for 61 years, after working 12 years at the market stand for his father, Wilber Henry, prior to owning the business. Fred will always be remembered as having the gift of gab, talking with people not only at his stand, but wherever he went. He and his late wife, Etta, also owned and operated a food stand at Eastern Market, York, PA, for 55 years. Fred served six years in the Army National Guard of PA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Etta M. (Overmiller) Henry and his son, Frederick ‘Freddy’ L. Henry Jr., 6 brothers, and 4 sisters. He is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
There will be a graveside service on Friday, March 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul (Hametown) Lutheran Cemetery, Susquehanna Trail South, Glen Rock, PA 17327.
