Very loving husband, Dad, grandfather, uncle and friend Gene F. Luckenbaugh, 90, passed to heaven Saturday, May 22, 2021. He was the devoted husband of J. Louise (Caillouet) Luckenbaugh and they celebrated 66 years of marriage on December 25, 2020. Born at home, Gene was the son of the late Fred and Minnie (Warehime) Luckenbaugh. Gene graduated from Glen Rock High School in 1948 and completed courses at Penn State Tech Institute in 1950 to pursue an accomplished career as a plastic and mold designer until he retired in 1996. He was also an excellent baseball pitcher in high school and then onto county ball after high school. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy. Gene was known as an avid outdoorsman and championship level target shooter, trap shooter and won many turkey calling contests in his day.Gene loved God. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children , Gail Lawler and her husband Mark of Kennett Square, Eric Luckenbaugh and his wife Mary of Durham, NC,Joel Luckenbaugh of York, former daughter-in-law Lisa Luckenbaugh of Grand Rapids, MI; 2 very adored grandsons Adam and Daniel Luckenbaugh also of Grand Rapids, MI; God daughter Elizabeth Hale of Baltimore, MD; sister Betty Ness and her family of Dover; sister-in-laws Jean Hammond & Lucy Maseth both ofWestminister, Mdand Mary Patterson of Gwynn Oak, Md; and many nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Lynn Luckenbaugh and two brothers, Kenny and Gordon Luckenbaugh. There will be a public visitation on Saturday, June 5 from 10-11 am at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, Pa with a funeral service starting at 11am. We kindly ask that everyone wear face masks in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York. In memory of Gene, contributions can be made to his favorite church Calvary Bible Church 603 Wilson Ave. Hanover, PA 17331.
