George H. Gemmill II, 95, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary I. Gemmill who died December 12, 2020. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Harry A. Gemmill Sr. and Mary Louise (Bruce) Gemmill. George proudly served in the Navy during WWII. He worked as a foreman at Yorktowne Cabinetry, retiring after 40 years of service. He then worked at night as a dispatcher at George’s Transfer for 10 years and then worked full-time at OpSec Security in the maintenance department. George was a religious man and was a member of West Liberty United Methodist Church. He enjoyed going to farm sales, yard sales, and flea markets. Surviving are three children, George R. Gemmill and his wife, Karen, Mary Beth Gemmill, and Mark Gemmill; and two grandchildren, Michael and Tim Hutcheson. George was preceded in death by a brother, Harry A. Gemmill Jr. There will be a public graveside service 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, at West Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery, 20400 West Liberty Road, White Hall, MD 21161.
