George J. Hofmann

d. May 8, 2024

George Joseph Hofmann,68, of Glenville Pennsylvania passed away on May 8th 2024 at approximately 3:45 in the afternoon at his home surrounded by his close family. He fought a courageous battle with a glioblastoma brain tumor.

On July 9th 1955 George was welcomed into the family of Francis X. Hofmann and Harriet L. Hofmann at  Women’s Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

George worked as an Elevator and Escalator Technician for Schindler Elevator Corporation for approximately 15 years prior to earning his retirement. During his career he was a dedicated, hard working man determined to provide for his family, who were the most important people in his life.

George was a beloved Father, Brother, Uncle (a.k.a. Uncle Cheesehead) and Grandfather (Pop), as well as, a fierce friend to many. He touched the hearts of others wherever he walked; everyone who knew or met him became a new friend. As a faithful man he never judged a single person and accepted people for who they were. His philosophy was to build connections with those he came into contact with for he believed that everyone deserved to be loved. George passed his faith and these beliefs on to his children and grandchildren.

After his retirement in 2020, he spent time with his family and friends doing the things he loved most. When he wasn’t at home cutting down trees or tending to his bees, you could find him with his children, his siblings, his grandchildren or riding his motorcycle with friends. Every day was a gift and he treated it as such.

George was predeceased by his parents Francis X. and Harriet Hofmann, his siblings Rebecca Michael and Timothy Hofmann and soulmate Carolee Hofmann.

He is survived by his children George Hofmann Jr. (Rachel), Nicole Keene (Jeff), Andy Slagle (Stephanie), and Desiree Rodriguez, his grandchildren Carson Hofmann and Madison Ash, his siblings Carol Hofmann Miller (Randy), Denise Hofmann Bankert (Gary deceased) and David McDonald.
